Welcome to Ketogenic Coach. I am going to take this first post to tell you about who we are and what we are about.
I had been overweight since high school. Slowly edging up to the 250 pound mark in college and through the beginning of my career. My wife took a video of me when I was teaching in Sunday School one Sunday morning and I didn’t recognize myself. I was the heaviest I had ever been. I tried several diets to slim down and even got caught up is a few diet fads such as the military diet. None of which worked of course.
I tried simply counting calories, and that helped but not to the extent that I wanted, so I cut nearly all fat from my diet. Doing that had an unusual effect, I gained weight. I didn’t understand what was happening. I watched Supersize Me several times and decided that dietary fat was the enemy. I watched Fathead a few months later and realized that Supersize Me was a sham, riddled with false information. I did my own research and stumbled upon something different to try. I used the information I found to develop the coaching method I use today.
I am in no way a dietitian, nutritionist or doctor. I have consulted my doctors prior to starting and continuing this plan, and as always recommend you do the same. It is important to ensure that your body is equipped to handle this method safely. If you have type 1 diabetes, then you should NOT work our plan as it could trigger ketoacidosis and potential death because of the failure for the body to regulate insulin. Most other people are fine to use it, but should still consult a doctor for your individual needs.
We have our plan based off the ketogenic diet. We utilize a routine that helps get started with the diet and helps the user understand what is happening and why. We want to make sure that our users are not blind followers but rather know what they are doing and why. We offer a free membership and a paid membership. The Free membership gets access to information on the ketogenic diet and emails containing tips. The paid memberships get access to this plus community forum access, recipes, and specific guides to help you make the most out of the plan. We also give you access to our plan and tips on how to make it work for you. Expect to lose 5-10 pounds within the firs two weeks. We work a re-composition plan designed to help you lose weight and redefine your body. Re-composition takes time and depends on your starting point. Diet Vs Exercise
The first thing you need to know about weight loss, is that it is not as simple as burn more calories than you eat. Each calorie is processed by a person’s body differently. So diet is the most important part about weight loss or body composition. You can’t eat anything you want and continue to be healthy. Some people may be able to stay slim, but that doesn’t equal healthy. Exercise is important for sure, but diet is the primary factor in health and what fuels your body.
